The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) World Environment Day event (4-5 June)

24 June 2020

Our biosecurity expert Anna Yunnie was an invited speaker at this recent virtual MOD event dedicated to the annual UN World Environment Day. Celebrated since 1974, World Environment Day looks to engage governments, businesses, celebrities and citizens to focus their efforts on a pressing environmental issue, which this year concerned biodiversity.

Effective biosecurity planning in the marine environment, minimizing the introduction or spread of a species, could protect waters, habitats and infrastructure from potentially damaging effects of marine invasive non-native species. Anna’s presentation provided an introduction and overview on marine biosecurity from a UK and wider perspective, highlighted options for action, including prevention, and discussed a number of case studies. The talk received excellent feedback and saw close to 200 delegates attending.

We had nearly 200 people listen in to Anna’s presentation on Biosecurity for our World Environment Day 2020 event, and it was really well received by the audience with some great feedback on her conversational style with many inspired by her passion for the topic.
