PML Applications’ Principal Consultant, Anna Yunnie, focuses on projects for our Centre for Marine Biofouling and Corrosion, with expertise in a range of applied science sectors as a professional marine biologist and ecologist. Anna is a co-author on a number of peer-reviewed scientific journals on invasive species and biosecurity. Anna also leads our test facility for in-water cleaning and conducts various types of marine biofouling surveys.

Anna provides training for clients in biosecurity and non-native species, and has taught taxonomy classes for university students, from undergraduate to PhD level. Past participants include MOD & civil servant staff, government agencies and ports & harbours representatives.
Anna’s research and projects with international collaborators include work towards establishing UK and international regulations and test protocols for in-water hull cleaning with the goal of aligning global standards and efficacy testing.
Anna actively works with clients from the Ministry of Defence, in-water hull cleaning companies, ports and harbours, shipping and antifoul paint companies and has appeared on several media platforms, including BBC Countryfile & BBC Radio 4 as a subject matter expert on non-native marine fouling species and in-water cleaning technology.
