PML Applications’ Biocorrosion Lead, Dr Tamsin Dobson, is an Applied Marine Scientist and Chartered Engineer, carrying out interdisciplinary research, particularly enjoying working on the intersection of marine science and engineering.
Tamsin’s experience includes:
• Biocorrosion
• Materials science
• Sensor technology
• Stress analysis and structural integrity
• Data analysis
• Marine vessel design, engineering concessions and in-service maintenance
• Dry dock engineering management
• Marine renewable energy
Tamsin’s academic achievements include two undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Marine Biology, two Master's degrees in Marine Technology and Marine Science, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (focusing on marine corrosion and material structural integrity under fatigue), accompanied by the publication of 5 papers. She holds CEng with IMarEST and is a professional member of the MBA.
Tamsin’s publications include the analysis of marine corrosion mechanisms in welded Nickel Aluminium Bronze, a finite element modelling study of real corrosion pits, an in-depth review on the interaction between offshore engineering projects and marine life, and a discussion of the results from long-term biocorrosion studies carried out at PML Applications.
