Dr Tristan Biggs is an Applied Research Scientist who works in PML Applications’ Centre for Environmental Solutions. With a diverse background in both commercial work and academia, he combines scientific innovation with practical environmental solutions to deliver impactful research and consultancy services to industry and government partners.

Tristan's career began with commercial opportunities where he worked in the marine sector as a Logging Geologist (Halliburton Sperry Drilling Services) and Biofouling and Ballast Water Research Technician (PML Applications). From there, his PhD and postdoctoral research positions, investigating carbon cycling through marine Antarctic food webs, honed his skills in molecular biology, microbial ecology (zooplankton - algae - virus interactions) and lipidomics, with results published in peer-reviewed international journals. Tristan’s academic achievements are the basis for his diverse interdisciplinary experience and skills in field and laboratory work.

• Antifoul coatings testing
• Biofilm analysis
• Ecotoxicology
• Microplastics
• Environmental DNA
