Matt is a Field Marine Technician at PML Applications, specialising in data collection and report writing within the Centre for Marine Biofouling and Corrosion (CMBC). His role involves performing in-water hull cleaning trials, conducting fieldwork, and managing laboratories to support a wide range of marine research projects.
Matt holds an MRes in Applied Marine Science from the University of Plymouth and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham. During his Master’s degree, he completed an 8-month placement at PML, where he investigated the effects of Artificial Light at Night (ALAN) on marine invertebrates - an experience that strengthened his skills in project management and scientific data collection.
His early career was shaped by an International Work Experience Grant, enabling him to contribute to marine research projects in Costa Rica, Malaysia, and Sweden. Matt is a motivated and hands-on professional, committed to advancing impactful research and innovation in the marine science field.
