Applied Marine Technician in PML Applications’ Centre for Marine Biofouling and Corrosion (CMBC), Tom Rees, works with the team supporting marine research projects, particularly in the fields of biofouling, corrosion, and environmental monitoring. He specialises in practical engineering, fieldwork, workshop and laboratory management.

Tom’s experience includes:
• Development, deployment, and management of client samples
• Development, deployment, and management of equipment
• Development, deployment, and management of surveys
• Biofouling studies
• Data processing
• Applied marine research

Tom’s academic achievements are in environmental studies, with a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science (University of Plymouth) and a Merit MRes in Applied Marine Sciences (University of Plymouth), where he gained expertise in terrestrial and aquatic pollution, marine legislation, environmental and marine conservation, and the application of marine research techniques. His passion for advancing environmental sustainability and marine conservation efforts led him to a career in marine science.
